and what about the lame excuse that in online poker you see more bad beats because more hands are played per hour than in live poker? THAT´S A LIE if it´s tournament poker we are talking about. live tourney tables can go very fast, as fast as online and if not as fast, never slow enough to justify the number of bad beats difference.

Question by Doug M: are charity poker tournaments in Texas illegal?
We are wanting to have a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament to raise money for our girls travel softball team. I know several other teams have had them in the past, but we were told not to hold one because they were illegal. Does anyone know for sure?

My son’s baseball team is having a texas hold ‘em poker tournament on June 29th, 2007 in Rockwall, Texas at the Rockwall Rotary club to raise money for the team to participate in a 12U super series baseball tournament. I don’t play poker or know many people who do. Where would I find people to participate or advertise this event?

Waiting for the SVB charity poker tournament to start last night…

Jeff Loomans and the Sierra team had special super-intimidating t-shirts made up for the event. Jeff also had a mace (the medieval spiked ball and chain) hanging from his belt. His bigger tools did the trick, as he went on to beat everyone from our team.

Update: This just in. JLo’s great performance was not enough to win it for the team. The winner of the NVCA Chairman’s Cup was….. Team DFJ. I was asleep by then. The top individual was Rob McIntyre of CMEA Ventures, and he gets a seat at the 2005 WPT Invitational.
