Buying poker chips online may be the best bet if you know what you want to buy. Even if you don’t know what you want, doing a little research first will definitely save you some money so you can gamble it in your next game instead.
People in smaller cities will have a hard time finding quality poker chips in their neighborhoods. Usually what they will find are cheap plastic chips at the big discount stores, but they won’t be able to find high quality poker chips. Even if there are one or two shops that specialize in cards, their prices will be through the roof. So your best option will be to buy them online.
If you don’t know what type of chips you want, and going into a shop first is an option, take advantage of that. You will be able to feel them. Feel the weight of the chips in your hand. See if you like the nine gram chips or the twelve gram chips better. Listen to the sound they make as you clink them together. Do they feel natural sliding onto the table as you ante up? Good, now remember what type of material they are made out of, how heavy they are, and what the guy at the shop wanted for fifty of those chips. Now you can go home and order your poker chips online for a fraction of the cost.
There are many online guides that can help you decide what the best bet for your needs. If you go online there is a wealth of information about what to buy. But first, you might want to consider what is important to you: look, feel, durability, or price. For example, if you want a durable chip that will last a lifetime, consider a composite chip that is made out of clay and another material. If you are looking for a inexpensive but nearly unbreakable chip, consider one that is made from a resin material. But if you want the poker chip that is like those used in almost all of the casinos in the world, you are definitely looking for a clay chip.
Another advantage to buying poker chips online is that if you ever lose a chip, (or twenty) you can often go back years later and buy the same chips to match your set. If you have to go to your local store, they often won’t carry older designs.
The variety of chips online is almost always bigger than your typical store. You can buy chips to suit your tastes. Remember that you can’t buy chips all the same color. You will need different colors for different denomination bets. For example, if you are playing with three of four players, you will need three or four different colors (representing the different sizes of bets). More players means more money is flowing and you will need bigger denominations. If you buy poker chips online, you will be able to find a great design that you like and be able to find them in enough different colors.
Once you know what you want and like, buying poker chips online is a great idea. You can save money and get a great style chip. If you lost some of your chips and you can’t find them in a local store, check to see if they are online for you to buy.
