The concept is as same as spades, collecting tricks. Highest card of suit wins trick. In Euchre King through 10 are used as long as with the aces. Im not 100% sure but someone gets to call a certain suit the “trump” suit wheter it be hearts or clubs whatever they call and the trump cards are the highest cards in the game thats all Im faimilar with so hope that helps a little

The game is played with 24 cards 9s through aces.

The game is based on Jack promotion where the Jack of the trump suit (whatever gets called) is the highest card, and the jack with the same color (different suit) is the second highest card.

Every non-trump suit is ranked as normal with aces being highest.

Shuffle cut and deal 5 cards to each player. There should be 4 cards left in the deck. Turn over the top card. That card’s suit is the suit that gets to be named ‘trump’ first.

Every player, starting with the player immediately left of the dealer (eldest), every player chooses to either name that suit as trump or pass. If any player including the dealer names that suit trump the dealer exchanges that card turned up with one in his hand.

If everyone passes including the dealer, that card gets turned down and starting with eldest, each player has the chance to call any other suit trump.

Once a player calls trump, eldest leads. Every player must follow suit and the highest ranked card in the suit that is led wins. If a player cannot follow suit he can play any card he likes including a trump card.

Trump cards beat any other card except a higher ranked trump. For example if spades are trump then a 9 spades beats the ace of diamonds, ace of hearts, and ace of clubs. It does not however beat the 10, Q, K, A, J spades, nor the J clubs (the Jack club is now a spade and is second highest)

Every player plays one card in turn, a turn is referred to as a ‘trick’. Whoever wins the trick gets to lead the next trick.

If you call trump and you win 3-4 tricks your team gets 1 point.

If you call trump and you win all 5 tricks with your partner helping your team gets 2 points.

If you call trump, go alone, and you win all 5 you get 4 points.

If you call trump, go alone, and only get 3-4 you get 1 point.

If you ever call trump and fail to win 3 tricks, your opponents get 2 points.

The key to the game is to remember that the Jacks get promoted and can change their suit. The color is what’s important. Same color Jacks switch places. If hearts is trump, the Jack of hearts is the highest card (Right Bower), and the Jack of diamonds is the second highest card (Left Bower). If diamonds is trump the J diamonds is Right Bower, and J Hearts is the Left Bower.

I hope this helps you. I can explain more if you want.
