If the dealer in Texas hold em takes a players cards (as if the player folded) before the player even looks at them, should the hand be redealt?

Surely the cards can be given back to the player as the dealer knows where they are. If it happened because the player wasn’t paying attention and numerous things have happened since the folding then it should just continue as it happened.
